Another lovely example here on offer here of these fantastic 20 Mark bank notes from just prior to the outbreak of World War II.

The collection on sale here at Noteworthy Collectibles has many fine examples but not all are uncirculated.  This note has some small creases and the paper has seen some handling. It is therefore priced to sell in a lesser grade. Not to be discarded out of hand though as it is still without tears and has solid edges.

Reichsbanknote for 20 Reichsmark

1939 Bundes Republik Treasury Note

Issue date: 16th June 1939

Rosenberg catalogue: R178a

The Obverse of the note has a pretty Austrian woman in left facing portrait holding an Edelweiss flower.

History

Mount Dachstein or Hoher Dachstein is the main peak of the Dachstein massif.  The massif contains hundreds of limestone peaks and acts as a natural border between Styria, Upper Austria and Salzburg.

The peak itself has an official height of 2995.78m.

The highest peak in the range is Parseier Spitz with a height of 3036m.

The alps in the region are not only a favourite place for Winter skiing but throughout the Summer people from all over Europe go there to hike and admire the fantastic scenery.
