50 AND 75 PFENNIG NOTES

These two emergency money notes are in fantastic almost uncirculated condition. Highly sought after collectibles such as these are a great investment.

The subjects of these 2 bank notes are the cartoon characters Max and Moritz who were created by Wilhelm Busch in 1865. The original story unfolds by the use of rhymed couplets and the subject matter is full of black humour and highly inventive situations.

The mischievous duos antics have long been a part of the culture in German speaking countries and most children are introduced them at a very young age.  They appear in advertising and are synonymous with graffiti and bad behaviour.

Rudolph Dirks claims that the Katzenjammer Kids were inspired by Max and Moritz. People with a sense of humour have named their children after them and Manfred von Richthofen better known as the Red Baron in World War I, named his dog Moritz and the pet he gave his girlfriend.
