Here is a stunning condition 1939 20 Reichmark note. 

It has one very small dog ear on the lower right corner of the Obverse but apart from that the note is essentially uncirculated.

Colours are fresh and bright and the paper is unsoiled.

Truly a beautiful note to own and to add to your collection.

Size: 160 x 80 mm

The Obverse of the note has a pretty Austrian woman in left facing portrait holding an Edelweiss flower.

The Reverse side depicts a lumberjack and a farmer sowing seeds placed either side of a representation of Lake Gosau and Mount Dachstein the second highest mountain in the Northern Limestone Alps.

History

Reichsbanknoten 1875 – 1914

Reichsbank notes were UP until the end of 1909 were not a legal tender.

only within the Reichsbank and selected private banks were they accepted as payment.

From the beginning of 1910 they were deemed legal currency along with the Reich gold coins.

Their circulation was increased steadily by economic demand and during the First World War the gold coins were steadily withdrawn from circulation.
