Governor Lachlan Macquarie – Australia Post Pack – 2010.
This delightful Stamp Pack celebrates the bicentenary of Macquarie’s governance. It contains two MNH blocks of four stamps that were designed by Stacey Zass that celebrate the importance of Lachlan Macquarie (1762-1824) as the Governor of New South Wales. During his time as governor (1810-1821),
Macquarie provided an important vision for the colony. He embarked on a public works program, erecting churches, parsonages, courthouses, lighthouses, convict barracks and factories.
These buildings would transform the physical appearance of the colony and are today seen as our established heritage. He was the father of modern Australia in many ways.
