The Magic Pudding is an  Australian children’s book written and illustrated by Norman Lindsay in 1918. It is a comic fantasy, and a classic of Australian children’s literature. Bunyip, a koala, runs away from home because he can’t stand his Uncle’s whiskers, and meets a sailor and a penguin who own a magic pudding. The puddin’ is an irritable fellow, always insulting them, and is contemptuous of how little they eat of it. Then pudding can magically replenish itself and can also change flavour to any pie or pudding. There are also two dangerous puddin’ thieves lurking about who use a multitude of disguises. Despite the watchfulness of Bill Barnacle and Sam Sawnoff, the puddin’ is always being stolen. The cut and come again pudding is herein commemorated.
