This emergency money 3 bank note set is from 1920 and was released about the time that hyperinflation was really starting to be felt nationwide within Germany.

The notes themselves are pristine uncirculated condition or what the Germans call, “Kassenfrisch” or checkout fresh.

They have 3 different scenes on the obverse of each one with various sketches showing varying aspects of the city architecture.

Hallenkirche –  Church Hall

Schloss –  Castle

Irmtrautsche Vasallenhaus – Vassal House.

A really lovely little triple set priced to sell.

History

In the Rheinland-Palatinate in what is known in Germany as the Westerwaldkreis or west forest district you will find the small village of Westerburg.

It is a medieval town perched high on a hill and its location was the reason for the building of a castle on its summit.

Only about 6,00 people live in the town. Farming is the main local industry.

Remains in urns located within the city have been dated at 700 BC which makes the habitation record of the city very old indeed.
