This set of 4 x 50 Pfennig emergency notes have different motifs on each note.

They display every day life in an early time when things were no doubt a lot more simple. Depictions of chicken and rooster farmers and traders are key to this agrarian culture.

The 4 notes are in fantastic condition and the price is set to sell.

Dozens of different regions across Germany printed their own emergency currency as hyperinflation ran its course. It was no different in Saxony-Anhalt where Ditfurt is located. Ditfurt is a small village with a current population of around 1600 people.

Some were even printed on aluminum, wood and silk, whichever material was most plentiful for the purpose.

History

History of Saxony-Anhalt ( where Ditfurt is located) In April 1945 the US Army took control of most of the western and northern area of the future Saxony-Anhalt. The U.S. Group Control Council, Germany (a precursor of the OMGUS) appointed the first non-Nazi officials in leading positions in the area. So Erhard Hübener, furloughed by the Nazis, was reappointed Landeshauptmann (state governor). By early July the US Army retired in order to allow the Red Army taking Prussian Saxony as part of its Soviet occupation zone, as agreed by the London Protocol in 1944.
